A Chrome extension that exports Instagram followers, bio emails and websites, plus posts and reels, straight from the profile page. What it does, how to use it safely, and its limits.

I came across a Chrome extension that does something genuinely useful, and it saved me enough time that it is worth sharing. It exports an Instagram profile's followers with their details, pulls any email or website listed in a bio, and downloads posts and reels in bulk — all from the profile page itself, without visiting a single third-party site.

For competitor research, content research and audience analysis it removes a lot of tedious work. Here is what it does, and — just as importantly — what you should be careful about.

What it is and how it appears

The extension is Mastros Instagram Scraper, installed from the Chrome extension store. Once installed you do not really interact with the extension icon much — open Instagram and its options appear inside the interface directly.

Open any profile and the first thing it surfaces immediately is that account's engagement rate, along with follower and post counts. That alone is a fast way to size up an account before you invest time in analysing it.

Exporting followers

Open a profile, go to the Extract section, and you get the list of what can be pulled from the current page: followers, posts and reels, and full profile details.

  1. 01

    Choose what to extract

Followers is the obvious one. You can also extract from a profile's posts and reels, or the full profile record.

  2. 02

    Set how many

This is the important field. Do not enter everything — pick a number. Thirty, fifty, a hundred. There is a deliberate safe window built in.

  3. 03

    Run it and watch

Thirty profiles processed in about a second. Fifty takes barely longer. The data appears in the panel immediately.

  4. 04

    Export the file

CSV or XLSX, whichever you need. It downloads and opens with all the columns intact.

There is a second mode that goes further: extract the followers and their bio details — email, website, bio text. Worth being precise about what that means, because it is widely misunderstood.

Downloading posts and reels

Same panel, different option. Choose how many posts you want — five, for instance — hit export, and five media files download immediately. Reels work identically: refresh the extension on a profile, select reels, choose a count, export.

The files come down at full quality. Nothing is re-compressed or degraded.

The old way

Search for a downloader site, paste the link, wait, dismiss the ad overlays, download one file, repeat for the next.

With the extension

Open the profile, pick a number, click export. Everything arrives together.

For a creator building a content library or studying how a niche presents itself, that difference compounds fast.

Two more things it does that are less obvious from the name.

Who engaged with a post

Open any post and you can export everyone who liked it, with their profile details — same structure as the follower export.

Who commented

Comments export with username, full name, profile URL, the comment text itself, and the position of the comment in the thread.

Keyword search

There is a search field inside the panel. Search a term — "SEO", for example — and it returns trending posts on that topic.

Bulk export from search

Keep scrolling and more results load. You can export a large batch of what is currently performing in a niche.

That last one is the feature I use most. If I need to know what is happening in an industry on Instagram right now, or find an angle for a topic, searching and exporting the top results is far faster than scrolling manually.

Using it responsibly

This is the part that deserves more than a footnote. The tool is convenient, and convenience makes it easy to overreach.

Before you run a large extraction

  • Keep to the built-in safe window — bulk scraping is what gets accounts flagged
  • Remember this operates against Instagram's platform terms; the risk sits with your account
  • Treat exported personal data as personal data, with the obligations that carries
  • A public bio email is not consent to be added to a mailing list
  • Use it for research and analysis first, and only contact people in ways you could defend

The account risk is real and the tool acknowledges it — that is exactly why the extraction limit exists rather than an "export everything" button. If you are operating in a market covered by GDPR or similar rules, exported contact details carry legal obligations regardless of how easily you obtained them. Unsolicited bulk email built from a scrape is the fastest way to damage a brand you spent years building.

One honest caveat

It is free right now, with no account required. Tools like this are free until they are not, and I have no idea how long this one stays available or unchanged. Use it while it is useful, and do not build a process that collapses if it disappears next month.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Instagram scraper Chrome extension do?

It exports an Instagram profile's followers with their usernames and profile details, retrieves emails and websites where users have published them in their bios, downloads posts and reels in bulk at full quality, and exports the people who liked or commented on any post. Everything runs from Instagram's own interface once the extension is installed.

Can it find emails that are not public?

No. Instagram does not expose account emails through its backend for safety reasons, and no extension can bypass that. What you get is what the account holder chose to publish in their own bio. Any tool advertising hidden email discovery is misrepresenting what is technically possible.

Is scraping Instagram safe for my account?

There is genuine risk, which is why the extension limits how much you can extract at once. Bulk activity is what triggers flags. Stay inside the safe window, extract in small batches rather than everything at once, and understand that the exposure sits with your account rather than the tool.

What is the best use for a tool like this?

Research. Checking engagement rates before partnering with an account, studying which posts perform in your niche, understanding an audience's composition, or building a reference library of content formats. None of that involves contacting anyone, and it is where most of the value is.

Can I email the addresses I export?

Technically yes, legally it depends, and practically you should be careful. A public bio email is not consent to receive marketing. In jurisdictions with GDPR-style rules, exported personal data carries obligations no matter how it was collected, and unsolicited bulk email is an efficient way to damage your own brand.

The bottom line

This is a genuinely convenient tool: engagement rates on sight, follower and engagement exports in seconds, bulk media downloads at full quality, and a keyword search that surfaces what is working in a niche. Use it for research, respect the extraction limits, treat the data you export as somebody's personal information — and do not assume it will still be free next year.
